Insurance
Due to limitations in mental health coverage, I am not paneled with insurance companies. Being out-of-network allows me to provide you with the best care possible due to treatment restrictions and privacy concerns. See the FAQs below for more information. While insurance plans vary greatly, I do provide super-bills for those who may have out-of-network benefits.
I reserve a limited number of spots for those in need of a sliding scale rate. These spots are reserved for those experiencing a financial barrier to therapeutic services. If you would like a sliding scale rate, we can discuss this during your phone consultation. Please note my sliding scale spots are currently full.

Absolutely, therapy is confidential. I protect the information shared during our session and do not share anything outside of our time together. However, it is important to note that there are legal and ethical considerations that sometimes require I share information in order to get you or someone else essential and necessary resources. I am a mandated reporter, meaning part of my job is to ensure vulnerable populations are protected from abuse, neglect, and harm. These considerations include:
You or someone else being in imminent danger of harm
Any disclosure of current or past abuse and/or neglect to a member of a vulnerable population (i.e., a child, elder, or person living with disability)
A judge or court requires that I share my notes and documentation
Perhaps you would like me to connect with another provider, like a doctor or past therapist, about your treatment with me. This is a situation that would require your written consent. Moreover, we would discuss in detail the information that you would like me to share with your other provider.

Insurance companies pose restrictions on client treatment and privacy, interfering with my ability to provide you with care that is best fit for your needs. Insurance companies mandate type, frequency, and duration of treatment. I believe in supporting and increasing client’s personal power, and I want you to decide your goals for therapy, how often you attend therapy, and for how long you attend therapy. Moreover, I take client confidentiality very seriously. If we were to use insurance, your insurance company would have access to your confidential therapy records, and I am no longer able to protect that information. Therapists are highly trained in maintaining confidentiality, and are legally and ethically responsible for this information as governed by state law and state counseling boards.

Perinatal refers to the time frame starting at conception and ending at a year post birth. Perinatal mental health therapy takes into consideration experiences including infertility, miscarraige, still birth, birth trauma, postpartum mood and anxiety disorders, scary thoughts in postpartum, and other concerns (i.e., not ‘falling in love’ with your baby immediately, mistimed pregnancy, parenting experiences different than imagined, disappointment in family support, etc.). See perinatal mental health therapy.

I work with couples at any stage of their journey - to include discernment couples therapy (for couples who are deciding whether to separate or remain together) and divorce counseling (skill-based therapy targeted at supporting couples in separating with discernment and integrity). For couples wanting to work on their relationship, I work on two levels simultaneously. The first of which is the skills level, which involves direct support and action steps that allow us to immediately interrupt patterns that are not serving the relationship. The second level involves addressing the underlying emotions of conflict, strengthening the connection, and providing corrective emotional experiences where partners feel safe and validated when vulnerable. See couples & family therapy.

I specialize in working with adult children and their caregivers to include parents. Often adult children and parents need support in redefining their relationship as children grow to adults. It may feel like resentment is interfering with an adult child’s ability to engage in a relationship with their parent(s). For parents, they may feel greatly misunderstood by their child. Together we work to strengthen the relationships by acknowledging past emotional injuries and practicing the skills necessary to interrupt miscommunication cycles. Our work may include improved use of boundaries and emotional regulation support. See couples and family therapy.
